I am very pro-vaccine. I got Covid in August 2023 after a plane trip to Las Vegas. Of course, I gave it to my husband. We were both fully vaccinated, and both got Paxlovid.

I was born with epidermolytic Ichthyosis, which makes me prone to skin infections 1957. It has been said that if antibiotics hadn’t been invented/discovered, I might not have lived through the early years.

The trick (could be a coincidence but who knows) seems to be avoid plane travel right now. I hope you continue to avoid it, Harry!

You'd be surprised. My cousin kept calling Covid "the flu " until 1 of her sons stationed in Germany was exposed to it. She still resisted taking it.

This " herd immunity " idea, never been 100 % clear about how hanging about sans mask, etc., will increase immunity. Strange, shoddy reasoning.....

Thanks and I reckon I'm just lucky - I've flown a few times since the outbreak began and decided to quit driving after I retired 4 years ago so now only use public transport.

I managed well enough without them for the first 45 years of my life before succumbing to their 'allure' some 20 years ago. Fortunately I came to my senses re Social Media and abandoned that - still sticking around on Substack but I've noticed it's now trending a certain way .. all about numbers of followers and 'like me, like me - please like me'. If it's someone's only source of income then fair enough as everyone has to make a buck.. I'll see out my first anniversary in a couple of weeks then decide whether I meander off into the sunset ...

Indeed Hemingway was, although much less appreciated now. You are right to watch from a distance - only in that way can you judge perspective...

I suspect that's because they believe they are in control of those Apps and their social interaction with and through them - even Substack - do we see the person behind the keyboard or the persona they wish to project ... ???

The contradictory nature of we human beings George. I now have Pfizer's vaccine coursing through my body and I don't use Google - preferring https://www.ecosia.org/ for my searching...

I think the difference with Covid George, was it was the first time in a long time that Goverment intervened so deeply in peoples lives. Certainly in the UK. The last time that happened was probably the Second World War. And with such intervention from authority comes greater distrust from individuals who believe there must be a 'bigger picture' of which they are not being made aware.
