You’ll find in other pieces my long standing appreciation of Lindisfarne and Alan Hull, Alan. First saw them back in the early ‘70s and still go along to a concert or two each year especially the Christmas concert that I’m off to again in December.
That’s quite a tally of listed buildings Grainger designed. Although I have a penchant for brutalist and the utopian vision that drove their construction, I’m not sure this deliberate demolition of older Newcastle was such a good idea.
Fortunately the bribery scandal stopped it before it went any further - still lost a quarter of Grainger's vision though, but we did get a motorway slap bang through the city as 'compensation'!!!

I'm back to the TR next month (I saw my first live theatre there over 50 years ago - Macbeth by the youth RSC (I was doing the play for O Levels)) to see a local production 'Gerry and Sewell' about two local lads endeavouring to get a NUFC season ticket. A feeling with which I identify!

So glad you mentioned Alan Hull. He needs to be mentioned more - a fine musician and wordsmith that people should listen to more.
